Sad News:

James R. (Bobby) Scruggs, 68, of Roanoke, passed away, Saturday morning, January 22, 2005 at his home. Bobby was born in Roanoke, Va., on June 4, 1936, a son of the late Charles Edward, Sr. and Helen Davidson Scruggs. He served in the United States Air Force in Germany for three years, worked for Nelson Roanoke Hardware for thirty years, and was a member of Emmanuel Wesleyan Church. Bobby was the founder and owner of Racing Image in Roanoke and Radford and served as a NASCAR official for 38 years. Surviving are his loving and devoted wife of 43 years, Jackie Reynolds Scruggs (PhD. candidate); his son and daughter-in-law, James (Jamie) David and Donna Scruggs of Roanoke. A service celebrating his life will be held at Oakey’s North Chapel Tuesday, January 25, 2005, 1:00pm with Pastor Mike Ennis, the Rev. Ron Pegram, and the Rev. Joe Braisted officiating. Interment in Sherwood Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to the Bobby Scruggs Memorial Foundation, P.O. Box 7811, Roanoke, Va. 24019, or Emmanuel Wesleyan Church, 402 Hershberger Rd., NW, Roanoke, Va. 24012, or a charity of your choice.
