Riggs wins the pole at Martinsville:

#10-Scott Riggs won the pole for the Advance Auto Parts 500 at Martinsville Speedway with a lap of 96.671, a new event qualifying record, but short of the track record set in Oct 2004 of 97.043mph. The pole is Riggs first career pole and puts him in the 2006 Budweiser Shootout. The rest of the top five are: #12-Ryan Newman, #19-Jeremy Mayfield, #2-Rusty Wallace and #29-Kevin Harvick. The fastest Ford was #16-Greg Biffle who was 8th. Two short rain delay’s held up the action a bit but they never lost the track. The fastest 43 drivers made the race. Missing the race were #92-Barrett, #61-Fuller, #27-Shelmerdine and #00-Long [spun on his 2nd lap]. Points leader #48-Jimmie Johnson was way down the chart and will start 37th [bet he wishes it rained].
