#75-David Starr won the pole for the MBNA RacePoints 200 at Dover International Speedway with a new track record of 157.577mph, the old record was 152.892mph, set last year by Carl Edwards. 29 drivers ran faster the the old record. #10-Terry Cook starts on the outside pole, followed by #6-Ron Hornaday, #4-Timothy Peters and #15-Kyle Busch. Points leader, #1-Ted Musgrave will start 16th and 2004 Champ, #04-Bobby Hamilton will start 20th. #99-Ricky Craven starts 35th as he made no qualifying attempt after his Ford was damaged in a wreck during practice. 36 drivers were on the entry list and made runs and all 36 will run the race.
