#20-Tony Stewart crashed in turn 4 during cup practice for the USG Sheetrock 400 at Chicagoland Speedway. Rescue workers took their time in helping Stewart out of the #20-Home Depot Chevy. He appeared a bit groggy, however walked to the ambulance under his own power and waved to the fans. He was transported to St. Joseph’s Hospital for precautionary xrays. The team will go to a back up car. Stewart’s car may have cut down a right front tire, however at this time crew chief Greg Zipadelli doesn’t know what happened. Joe Gibbs Racing’s Busch driver, J.J. Yeley is practicing Stewart’s backup car.(PRN’s Garage Pass at the track)
AND Stewart will come back to the track and if cleared at the track, he could qualify the car, if not, J.J. Yeley would qualify the car and Stewart would race the car, falling to the rear of the field on Sunday. Stewart has no broken bones and is alert and ok, may have a possible concussion.(Speed Channel’s NASCAR Live)(7-8-2005)
