Mac Hill Motorsports Owner Jack McNelly announced today that Tony Lambert has been named the new crew chief for the team’s NASCAR Busch Series #56 Lester Buildings Chevrolet and driver Tim Sauter. Lambert replaces Tim Shutt, who recently left the organization. “Hiring a crew chief with Tony Lambert’s experience and success is an important step for Mac Hill Motorsports as we continue to grow as a Busch Series team,” commented McNelly. “While Tim Shutt’s departure was unfortunate, we wish him the best and feel that Tony will certainly be able to lead this team to the next level.” Lambert has 12 Busch Series victories as a crew chief. His most recent victory came last season at Daytona while serving as crew chief for Mike Wallace, a position he held for the 2003 and 2004 seasons. His tenure with the #4 car included 66 starts, one win, 2 top-fives and 7 top-tens. Prior to that, Lambert was the crew chief for Mark Martin’s Busch Series efforts. In two seasons (1999-2000) at the helm with Martin, the two combined for 11 wins, 21 top-fives, 23 top-tens and 7 Busch Pole Awards in 27 starts. Lambert’s first race as crew chief for the Lester Building’s #56 Chevrolet will be this weekend’s Salute to the Troops 250 at Pikes Peak International Raceway. Lambert is a native of Concord, NC and lives in Mooresville with his wife Debbie their children, Misty and Craig. Sauter and the Lester Buildings # 56 Chevrolet have participated in seven NBS races this season with a best finish of 12th at Talladega. The team currently ranks 46th in the 2005 Owner Standings with 600 points.(Victory Sports Group/Mac Hill Motorsports PR)(7-18-2005)
