Tin Brown Team Update:

Former Oakland Raiders wide receiver Tim Brown said Sunday morning that he should know soon whether the NASCAR program he’s starting with help from Jack Roush will make it to the track next year or in 2007. Brown said he could run a Nextel Cup team next year, Cup and Busch series cars next year, or, if delayed until ’07, he could campaign a Craftsman Truck entry in addition to the Cup and Busch cars. “We think we’ll be there (in 2006), but when you’re talking this kind of (sponsorship) money, you never know what’s going to happen. But hopefully the next couple of weeks one way or another whether we’ll be on track or not.” Brown said he and the Roush organization are talking with sponsors “who are looking at doing both” the Cup and Busch cars next year. “I understand we’re running out of time, and everybody has to make a decision here.” The former football star added that he initially planned the team for ’07, but “we just got a little greedy and little aggressive and decided to try to make something happen for ’06. We’re close. We think we can still get it done.”(Speed Channel)(11-7-2005)
