Homestead Qualifying Notes:

• Carl Edwards won the NASCAR NEXTEL Cup Series Bud Pole for the Ford 400, lapping Homestead-Miami Speedway in 30.673 seconds at 176.051 mph. Jamie McMurray holds the track-qualifying record of 29.816 seconds, 181.111 mph, set Nov. 11, 2003.
• This is Edwards’ second career Bud Pole in 49 NASCAR NEXTEL Cup Series races.
• This is his second Bud Pole and 11th top-10 start in 2005.
• This is Edwards’s first Bud Pole and first top-10 start in two NASCAR NEXTEL Cup Series race at Homestead-Miami Speedway.
• Ryan Newman posted the second-quickest qualifying lap of 30.675 seconds, 176.039mph – and will join Edwards on the front row for the Ford 400. He has started fourth or better in three of his four races at Homestead. Newman posted his seriesleading 29th top-10 start of the season. This is his 14th front-row start this year.
• This is the ninth Bud Pole for Ford in 2005. Chevrolet has 14 Bud Poles and Dodge has 11. Qualifying was canceled at Dover in June and Watkins Glen.
• Kasey Kahne (third) has posted sixteen top-10 starts in 2005. He started fourth and finished 38th in his only NASCAR NEXTEL Cup appearance at Homestead (2004).
• Kyle Busch (fourth) has posted 11 top-10 starts this season. This will be his first NASCAR NEXTEL Cup start at Homestead.
• Mark Martin (fifth) has posted just one other top-10 start in his seven races at Homestead: ninth in the inaugural race in 1999. This is his 11th top-10 start this season.
• Four of the 10 Chase drivers qualified in the top 10: Edwards, Newman, Martin and Greg Biffle (seventh).
• Todd Bodine (24th) qualified for his first NASCAR NEXTEL Cup race since Darlington in November 2004. Bodine, who won the NASCAR Craftman Truck Series race earlier today will also compete in the NASCAR Busch Series race later today.(NASCAR Statistical Services)(11-19-2005)
