#9-Kasey Kahne won the Budweiser Pole for the 3M Performance 400 at Michigan International Speedway with a speed of 185.644mph for his 4th pole of 2006 and 10th of his career [now tied with Foyt, Stewart and Yarbrough for 34th all-time]. #24-Jeff Gordon went out 47th and last and almost took the pole, but settled for 2nd with a speed of 185.543mph, followed by #25-Brian Vickers, #48-Jimmie Johnson and #43-Bobby Labonte. #8-Dale Earnhardt Jr. will start 6th. #12-Newman spun on his first lap and took no time/speed and will start 42nd. The non-top 35 teams that made the race were: #32-Kvapil,, #55-Waltrip, #40-Stremme, #34-Skinner, #49-Lepage, #4-Wimmer and #74-Cope.
