Tulsan Adrian Berryhill, who has an Oklahoma-based Busch Series team [#37 last year], considers the decision of the Oklahoma Centennial Commission to be the primary sponsor of a Busch Series car based out of Kentucky “a slap in the face.” Keith Coleman Racing of Kentucky [#23] announced the commission will be the primary sponsor of a car running in the Busch Series. The deal, according to Coleman, is for the entire 2007 season. Blake Wade, executive director of the Oklahoma Centennial Commission, insisted the sponsorship cost Oklahoma no state money or no private funds. However, Coleman said the sponsorship is being paid by “contributions from supporters.” Berryhill wonders why the Oklahoma Centennial Commission wouldn’t want to support a Busch Series team in the state. Berryhill’s race team, Vision Racing, has five cars, five engines but no sponsor for the upcoming season. Berryhill said Vision Racing would not try to qualify for the season-opening Busch race in Daytona “because we don’t have a primary sponsor right now. But we’re hopeful of having one by the spring race in Texas (April 14).(Tusla World)(2-8-2007)
