NASCAR Technical Institute Honored:

The Mooresville-South Iredell Chamber of Commerce is proud to present the 2006 Duke Power Citizenship and Service Award to the NASCAR Technical Institute in Mooresville, NC. The purpose for the award is to recognize and reward leadership and/or involvement in volunteerism and community service, encourage a culture of citizenship and service in our communities, and complement the efforts of the organizations in the community striving to improve our quality of life. The award which is given annually recognizes activities that set a standard and foster a culture for citizenship, service and community responsibility. The NASCAR Technical Institute (NTI) received the award recently at the MSI Chamber’s Annual Meeting & Awards Banquet. In 2006 the staff and students at NTI volunteered in their community for a total of 3640 hours giving their time and talents to well over 50 non profit or charitable organizations. Working with the Red Cross and the Community Blood Center of the Carolinas, NTI staff and students have set the bar in the region with an annual donation of approximately 1,200 pints of blood.
