Sad News -Jack Birmingham:

Jack Birmingham, who owned the #30/27 Eel River Racing Cup team [1998-2001, 58 races, was the Bahari Racing team before that], passed away at his home in Osterville, MA. No more details known.(2-27-2007) AND John P. Birmingham, Jr.,(65), known as Jack to his friends, the beloved husband, father, loyal friend, attorney and accomplished businessman passed away peacefully at his home in Osterville, MA on Saturday February 24, 2007 after a long illness. Previously, he lived in Wellesley, Boston and Vero Beach , Florida. Mr. Birmingham and his brother established The Steinway Foundation, which commissioned and funded new piano concertos by contemporary composers. The Foundation was inaugurated at a concert at Carnegie Hall and the first three, newly commissioned concertos were performed a year later at the Kennedy Center in Washington D.C. After a brief retirement, Jack Birmingham and his son Devin, established Eel River Racing, a NASCAR Nextel Cup racing team in Charlotte, North Carolina and competed in the series for three years. Mr. Birmingham is survived by his wife of 42 years, Karen (Murphy); his son, J. Devin Birmingham, and daughter- in- law, Cornelia S. of Sherborn, his daughters, Hilary Birmingham, of Los Angeles, CA, Sarah B. White, and son-in -law, Jonathan D. White of Newton; four beloved grandchildren, John M., Henry S., Cornelia S. Birmingham and Charles U. White; brothers Paul J. Birmingham and his wife Pamela of Palm Beach, FL., Robert M. and his wife Frances of Osterville MA, Mark F. Birmingham of Freeport, ME, and a sister, Lois I. Wrightson and her husband, Frederick W. Wrightson III of Osterville MA; and many nieces and nephews.
