Levine Children’s Hospital has received a $350,000 commitment from Speedway Children’s Charities to support the new 234-bed facility that will open in October. Speedway Children’s Charities is the charitable arm of Speedway Motorsports, Inc. headquartered in Concord. Its philanthropy is directed toward a variety of children’s causes. Amanda Hollingsworth, Director of the Charlotte Chapter, noted that the Levine gift is “special because it reflects the generous support of our corporate donors, Speedway Motorsports Inc., Sonic Automotive, O. Bruton Smith and loyal race fans.” In recognition of the gift from Speedway Children’s Charities, a family lounge on the 8th level of Levine Children’s Hospital will be designated in the organization’s honor. Levine Children’s Hospital, located on the main campus of Carolinas Medical Center, is currently undergoing its final construction phases, with opening anticipated in late October.(PR)(8-12-2007)
