The France family, which has been through its share of misery this summer, was touched by tragedy once again last week. Kristina Garcia, 32, a sister-in-law to NASCAR chairman and CEO Brian France, died Friday in Los Angeles. Garcia was the younger sister to France’s wife, Megan. Details remain sketchy, even to those at NASCAR. The cause of death has not been released. “We just don’t know,” NASCAR spokesman Ramsey Poston said Tuesday. Poston said Garcia was not involved with either of the France family business ventures, NASCAR and International Speedway Corp., and never lived in this area. Still, the family is shaken by a third death in as many months. “The France family is treating this as a private family matter and is in a period of mourning the loss of Megan’s sister,” Poston said.(Daytona Beach News Journal)(8-28-2007)
