Johnson wins pole at Richmond:

#48-Jimmie Johnson won the Budweiser Pole for the Chevy Rock and Roll 400 at Richmond International Raceway, for his 1st pole since April 2006 at Martinsville, 2nd at RIR and 10th of his career. Johnson becomes the 14th driver to qualifying for the 2008 Budweiser Shootout [not counting past winners eligible]. #24-Gordon will start 2nd, followed by #5-Busch, #12-Newman, #11-Hamlin, #99-Edwards, #20-Stewart, #6-Ragan, #19-Sadler and #43-Labonte. #8-Earnhardt Jr. starts 20th and #29-Harivick starts 13th. The non-Top 35 drivers [go or go homers] to make the race were: #10-Riggs, #00-Reutimann, #84-Allmendinger, #83-Vickers, #22-Blaney, #78-Nemechek, #44-Jarrett and #49-Andretti.
