NASCAR still needs replacement sponsor for Busch Series:

The Busch Series still needs a new sponsor for next season and NASCAR remains focused on finding a financial benefactor for not just 2008 but well beyond. “One of the keys is to get the right sponsor in a long-term situation,” NASCAR Vice President Jim Hunter said Sept. 16. “[We’ve] got some prospects and we’re in the process. … Today, with a national series like that and going into different race tracks all around the country who have contractual agreements, you have to get somebody that fits. That’s important. And you also want to get someone who is committed to a multi-year presence.” The series is not in danger of going away, but NASCAR obviously would like to have a sponsor when Busch bows out after this season. “We’ll have that series regardless of whether there is a sponsor attached to it or not,” Hunter said. “We’ll have to come up for a name.” Teams are also working on sponsorship for next season, and NASCAR apparently is telling them to sign the deals and then NASCAR will work with the new sponsor to grandfather them in. Subway, which was considered the front-runner earlier this year, still could wind up as the sponsor, but obviously NASCAR is looking at all options. Rusty Wallace said Sept. 11 that he has signed Jimmy John’s sandwich store for at least 10 races next season. (SceneDaily.com)(9-16-2007)
