#48-Jimmie Johnson had to win to gain 15 points on #24-Jeff Gordon, but Gordon’s fifth top 5 in 6 Chase starts continues to set a record-setting pace. Only Clint Bowyer has managed to stay within one race of the lead. Kurt Busch fell three spots back to 10th. He leads Martin Truex by 27 points and Matt Kenseth by 42. Only the top-10 go to the babquet in New York. Gordon leads Johnson by 53 points with four races to go, but it is not the largest Chase lead after four races, Kurt Busch had a 96 pt lead with four races to go in the first Chase, in 2004…and won the championship by 8 pts over Johnson.
