Matt Kenseth pretty much had it his own way all day and went on to win the Ford 400 at Homestead-Miami Speedway….leading 214 of the 267 laps in the process. This was the second win of the season for Matt (he took California back in February) and 16th of his Nextel Cup career (he’s now solo in 43rd on the all-time win list). This was the 7th win of the season for Roush-Fenway and their 102nd overall. It was worth $359,941 from the over $5.3m in posted awards. Kurt Busch (2nd) had his best finish since he won at Michigan in August. Denny Hamlin (3rd) had his best finish since he was runner-up at Watkins Glen in August. David Ragan (10th) had his best finish since he was 3rd at Richmond in September. Dale Jarrett (17th) had his best finish since he was 11th at Atlanta in October of 2006! STREAKIN….Jeff Gordon has 8 Top-10’s in a row. Matt Kenseth has 5 Top-5’s in a row. Jimmie Johnson has 5 Top-10’s in a row. This Week’s Elevator….UP: Operator of the Week is Denny Hamlin (+27), followed by Greg Biffle (+24). DOWN: The Big Dropper was Brian Vickers (-25), followed by Dale Earnhardt Jr (-23), Johnny Benson (-23), Kasey Kahne (-21), David Gilliland (-20), and Clint Bowyer (-20). Matt Kenseth led the season with five Ops, while Kasey Kahne had the most BD’s with four. Jeff Gordon can take solce in knowing he won the “Classic” standings, tho there’s no trophy, no money, and (for all practical purposes) no mention either. His final margin over Jimmie Johnson was a whopping 353 points.
