SPEED will open the first three categories of the Second Annual SPEED Performance Awards on Nov. 19, as fans will choose from a selection of video clips posted on SPEEDtv.com for RACER Magazine Rookie of the Year, “Biggest Hit” and the “Oops Award.” Among the nominees for RACER Magazine Rookie of the Year are Lewis Hamilton (Formula One), Robert Doornbos (Champ Car) and Juan Pablo Montoya (NASCAR Nextel Cup Series). The second series of categories – “Temper, Temper,” “Biggest Upset” and “Heartbreak” will open to fan voting beginning Nov. 26 and the final three categories – “Best Rivalry,” “Best Finish” and “Tell it Like it Is” will be open to fan voting beginning Dec. 3. In addition to the fan-selected SPEED Performance Awards, SPEED will once again present the Mario Andretti Trophy to the SPEED Performer of the Year. NASCAR Nextel Cup Series champion Jimmie Johnson earned the inaugural award last season.
