Mike Dillon had spotted for #07-Clint Bowyer but as vice president of competition at RCR, he said he needed to focus on the entire team and he has been replaced by former driver Jimmy Kitchens. “My job is to be as available to all three teams as I can be, and it kind of got one-sided a little bit – I didn’t feel like that but the perception was that,” Dillon said Friday at Daytona International Speedway. “I’m good with it.” The team hired Kitchens away from Gillett Evernham Motorsports [was spotter for #10 car], and Kitchens began spotting for Bowyer at the Las Vegas and California tests. Kitchens worked with Bowyer in the Busch (now Nationwide) Series last year for a couple of races. Kitchens raced against Dillon in the Busch Series and had 47 career starts from 1994-2005. “Clint and I talked a lot, and so that was the thing that [the new spotter] was going to have to do,” Dillon said. “He wants to hear a lot. Jimmy understands the racing, and he’s been in the car, so he understands the tension and the pressure these guys are under.” Kitchens will also work on the Bowyer car as a mechanic.(SceneDaily.com)(2-9-2008) .
