Benson plans to keep racing as long as it’s fun:

Johnny Benson Jr. explained that the biggest strike against him and any dreams of competing once again in the NASCAR Sprint Cup division is his age. Maybe Sprint Cup is a long shot, but don’t think the 44-year old Benson is giving retirement much thought these days. “If you asked me 10 years ago, I probably would have said I was going to be retired by the time I’m 45,” said the Grand Rapids native, who is returning to compete in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series this season. “But I’m going to keep racing as long as it’s fun. When I’m sick of it, then I’ll quit. “I’ll tell you what, I’m going to accomplish that (a Craftsman Truck championship) before my career is over,” Benson said. “We are definitely looking forward to the new season.(The Grand Rapids Press)(2-12-2008)
