Las Vegas Goodyear Tire Notes:

Teams in both the Sprint Cup and Nationwide Series will be running the same tire codes at Las Vegas this weekend . . . this is the first time that teams have run a race on either of these two tire codes . . . teams in these two series did run these codes during open testing at Las Vegas in January . . . Goodyear’s tire recommendation for this year’s Las Vegas events offers an increase in traction over the tire combination for last year’s repaved surface. . . the 2008 tire combination incorporates improvements found during Goodyear’s tire test in December . . . the tread compound for the left side tire offers a significant increase in traction, and the revised left side construction has consistently demonstrated more predictable response . . . as on all NASCAR ovals greater than one mile in length, teams are required to run inner liners in all four tire positions at Las Vegas . . . air pressure in those inner liners should be 12-25 psi greater than that of the outer tire. The estimated pit window is every 50-55 laps, based on fuel mileage (Sprint Cup).(Goodyear PR), see the full report, codes, pressures on my Las Vegas Race Info page and also the Tire Notes by Tracks page.(2-29-2008)
