You have to go all the way to fifth place #07-Clint Bowyer to find the first driver with more than a one race cushion on falling out of the Top 12. #48-Jimmie Johnson had the biggest fall of the group at LMS, dropping 83 points on 13th place and sliding three spots back to 9th after the Coca- Cola 600 at Lowe’s Motor Speedway. #9-Kasey Kahne’s big win in the Coca-Cola 600 allowed him to knock #6-David Ragan out of the Top 12 and claim the ” bubble” spot. Only Ragan and #12-Ryan Newman remain within one race of the Top 12 after the Coca-Cola 600. #`1-Martin Truex lost 127 points on 12th, #42-Juan Pablo Montoya lost 127 and #83-Brian Vickers’ failed wheel cost him 146 points on 12th.
