Busch’s start would rank 10th best with 2050 points. in 1977 Cale Yarborough had 2176 points and 6 wins [so he would have 2296 points using the extra 10 points winners get now per win], 2nd would be Ernie Irvan in 1994 at 2130 points after 13 races [adjusted to 2190 for three wins] and third best would be Dale Earnhardt in 1987 at 2119 [adjusted to 2239 for 6 wins]. Last seasonJeff Gordon led after 13 races with 2059 points and 3 wins.(6-3-2008)
