This is his fifth pole and 22nd top-10 start in 2008. This is his third pole in seven races at Kansas Speedway. Mark Martin (second) posted his 11th top-10 start of 2008 and his second in eight races at Kansas Speedway. Matt Kenseth (third) posted his fourth top-10 start at Kansas Speedway. It is his 10th in 29 races this season. Patrick Carpentier (20th) was the fastest qualifying rookie. The time of Juan Pablo Montoya was disallowed following post-qualifying inspection.
