Only three points separate the top three outfits in one of the most hotly-contested Manufacturers’ Championships in history. With two races remaining in the Chase for the NASCAR Sprint Cup, Chevrolet leads the standings with 204 points, Ford has 202 and Toyota has 201. After the 26-race “regular season,” Chevrolet and Ford were tied for second in the Manufacturers’ Championship standings, 18 points behind first-place Toyota. But after combining for seven wins in eight Chase races, Chevrolet and Ford have vaulted into the top two spots. A Chevrolet has won the last six races at Phoenix International Raceway, while a Ford has won the last four at Homestead-Miami Speedway.(NASCAR PR), see the Manufacturers’ Championship standings on my 2008 Manufacturers’ Championship page.(11-5-2008)
