Johnson the CHAMP; Edwards wins at Homestead:

#99-Carl Edwards won the FORD 400 at Homestead-Miami Speedway for his 9th win of the season and the 15th of his career. Edwards did what he needed to do, win the race and lead the most laps, but #48-Johnson finished 15th and won the 2008 NASCAR Sprint Cup Championship by 69 points over Edwards. Johnson is the first driver to win three championships in a row since Cale Yarborough 1976-78 and only the 2nd driver ever. Crew Chief Chad Knaus is now the only crew chief ever to win three Sprint Cup Championships in a row. #29-Harvick finished 2nd, followed by #26-McMurray, #24-Gordon, #07-Bowyer, #9-Kahne, #28-Kvapil, #5-Mears, #20-Stewart and #1-Truex Jr. #88-Earnhardt Jr. broke a brake caliper and finished 41st. #47-Ambrose finished 42nd and #84-Vickers finished 32nd to get the #84 back into the Top-35 in owners points and drop the #47 out of the top-35 for the first five races of 2009. There were 7 cautions for 31 yellow flag laps and 15 lead changes among 8 leaders. For race results, awards and more, see my Homestead Race Results Awards Page.(11-16-2008)
