It would make sense if Jimmie Johnson spent his Thursday before Christmas gearing up for the holidays at his North Carolina home. Instead, Johnson waited for fog to clear in North Carolina and Texas before flying to Fort Worth for a planned practice session at the Motorsport Ranch in Cresson. Johnson, NASCAR’s three-time Sprint Cup champion, was trying to prepare for the Rolex 24 at Daytona in January. For the second consecutive year, Johnson will take a break from the No. 48 Lowe’s Chevrolet to join Lewisville-based GAINSCO/Bob Stallings Racing in the team’s bid to win the 24-hour race.(Fort Worth Star-Telegram)(12-20-2008)
