Several employees of Mooresville, NC-based Motorsports Management International and automotive design and engineering firm Corvid Technologies are one of 40 teams selected to compete in this Saturday’s Red Bull Soapbox Race in Atlanta. Their entry, a scaled replica of NASCAR’s first car to win a race and championship in 1948 with driver Red Byron, is titled Parks Novelty Machine in tribute to Raymond Parks. NASCAR’s first championship car owner based his race team out of Atlanta and ran a modified 1939 Ford V-8 that was built and assembled in Atlanta on Ponce de Leon Ave., near the Piedmont Park location of the soapbox race.
