Aug. 28 — 1965: Junior Johnson passes polesitter Richard Petty on the second lap and leads the rest of the way to win the Myers Brothers 250 at Bowman-Gray Stadium in Winston-Salem, N.C., to sweep both Cup races at the half-mile track in 1965.
