#29-Kevin Harvick has improved 23 positions from 2009 to this season. Last year at the halfway mark in The Race to the Chase, Harvick was mired in 24th place, 306 points out of the Top 12. Harvick enters the second 13 races in first place, a comfortable 355 points ahead of 13th. Harvick has scored 637 more points than last year. #14-Tony Stewart is 15 spots worse than last year, and is jeopardy of missing the 2010 Chase. #48-Jimmie Johnson’s 37th at Charlotte dropped him to 7th place and in the “danger zone,” within one race of dropping out of the Top 12. But, Johnson was in a little more danger at the halfway mark in 2008, only 128 points out of 13th. He enters the second half 151 points ahead of 13th. Johnson went on to win the 2008 title. In the six year history of The Chase, no more than two drivers out of the Top 12 at the halfway mark have been able to make the field.
