#1-Jamie McMurray: Crew Chief Kevin “Bono” Manion and the #1 McDonald Chevy team will bring chassis #1012 to Watkins Glen. This chassis was tested two weeks ago at Road Atlanta and will mark its first race.
#2-Kurt Busch: Crew chief Steve Addington and the “Blue Deuce” crew are racing their ‘PRS-722’Â Miller Lite ‘Vortex’Â Dodge in this weekends Heluva Good! Sour Cream Dips at the Glen at Watkins Glen International. The team debuted this car at Infineon Raceway on June 20. Busch started third and was running fifth with four laps remaining when an incident with Jeff Gordon sent him to pit road under the green because of a flat tire. That resulted in a disappointing 32nd-place finish. ‘The car was completely reworked after the Sonoma race and we tested with it a couple of weeks back (on July 26) at Road Atlanta,’Â said Busch of the 2.54-mile road course located in Braselton, Georgia.
#5-Mark Martin: Crew Chief Alan Gustafson chosen Hendrick Motorsports Chassis #5-608 for Sunday’s race at Watkins Glen. This is the same chassis that Martin drove to a 14th-place finish at Infineon Raceway in June.
#6-David Ragan: Primary: RK-660 Last ran Sonoma ‘Â finished 25th; Backup: RK-627 Last ran Watkins Glen ‘Â09 ‘Â finished 24th. The University Center (SLIC – 1421) in the Northeast District has been selected as the UPS Maximum Center for the August 8 Watkins Glen International Speedway Race. The University Center will have its identification number on Ragans car as a result of maintaining 100% effectiveness to plan on the Balanced Scorecard for multiple elements in the month of May. With these results, the University Center truly proves to be best in class.
#12-Brad Keselowski: The #12 Penske Dodge Charger team will use chassis PRS-723 during Sundays second road course race of the season at Watkins Glen International (WGI). This chassis last competed at Infineon Raceway in June.
#14-Tony Stewart: Chassis No. 14-546 made its debut in June 2009 at Infineon Raceway, where Stewart used it to qualify fourth and lead twice for 11 laps before finishing second. Prior to Sonoma, Chassis No. 14-546 tested at Virginia International Raceway (VIR). In preparation for its second career start in August at Watkins Glen, the car was brought back to VIR for a single-day test on July 27. The time at VIR paid off, as Stewart used Chassis No. 14-546 to qualify 13th and then lead twice for a race-high 34 laps to record his fifth Sprint Cup win at Watkins Glen. Chassis No. 14-546 tested again at VIR on May 11 in preparation for its return to Sonoma this past June. There, it qualified seventh and finished a respectable ninth. It returns to action this weekend at Watkins Glen where it will attempt to defend its victory from a year ago.
#17-Matt Kenseth: Primary: RK-663 (Last raced at Sonoma).
#18-Kyle Busch: Chassis No. 240: This chassis made its debut in June 2009 at Infineon Raceway. Busch qualified second and led 10 laps, but brake issues led to contact with another car. As a result, Busch went a lap down but rallied to post a 22nd-place finish. The #18 team brought this chassis to the other road course race in 2009 ‘Â Watkins Glen International ‘Â where Busch started eighth and finished a solid fourth. This chassis made its way back to Sonoma in June, where Busch qualified 27th and got caught up in a multi-car accident on lap 10, resulting in extended time in the garage for repairs to the front end of his #18. The result was a disappointing 39th-place finish.
#19-Elliott Sadler: The #19 Hunt Brothers Pizza Ford team has prepared chassis #243 for this weekend’s event. This is the same car the team ran earlier this season at Infineon Raceway where Sadler drove 17th.
#20-Joey Logano: The #20 Home Depot Team is taking chassis #234 this weekend for the race on the 2.45-mile road course. Logano drove this chassis at Sonoma earlier this season to a 33rd-place finish and in both road-course races in 2009 (19th at Infineon and 16th at Watkins Glen). The back-up chassis is #180 which has never competed but served as the back-up car last year.
#29-Kevin Harvick: will pilot Chassis No. 321 from the Richard Childress Racing NASCAR Sprint Cup Series stable. This is a completely brand new chassis, and its first laps on the track will be opening practice on Friday.
#31-Jeff Burton: will race chassis No. 245 from the Richard Childress Racing NASCAR Sprint Cup Series stable. Built new in 2009 as a #07 racer, this machine was put through two short track tests and then shelved before being converted to a road course #31 racer. It was put through its first competition at Infineon Raceway in June where the South Boston, Va., native finished 27th after being spun off course with less than five laps remaining.
#33-Clint Bowyer: will pilot Chassis No. 300 from the Richard Childress Racing NASCAR Sprint Cup Series stable. This is the same Chevy Bowyer raced at Infineon Raceway in June. He started 22nd and raced his way into the top 10 before late-race contact, a broken part and a flat rear tire resulted in a less-than-desired 31st-place finish.
#42-Juan Pablo Montoya: Crew Chief Brian Pattie and the #42 Target team will bring Chassis #1014 to Watkins Glen International this weekend. This will be the first time the chassis will be used in NASCAR Sprint Cup Series competition this season. The Target team tested this chassis at Virginia International Raceway in June.
#43-A.J. Allmendinger: The #43 Richard Petty Motorsports team led by crew chief Mike Shiplett has prepared chassis #257 for this weekend’s event at Watkins Glen International. The team last utilized this chassis for the event at Infineon Raceway in Sonoma, Calif., where Allmendinger qualified 15th and drove to a 13th-place finish.
#48-Jimmie Johnson: last piloted primary chassis No. 543 to his first road course victory by winning the Sprint Cup Series race at Infineon Raceway in June. Back up chassis No. 442 was last driven to a seventh-place finish at Watkins Glen in August 2008.
#88-Dale Earnhardt Jr.: Crew chief Lance McGrew and the #88 team will unload Hendrick Motorsports Chassis No. 88-514. Earnhardt last raced this car to an 11th-place finish at Infineon Raceway in June.
#98-Paul Menard: Crew chief Slugger Labbe and the #98 RPM crew have prepared chassis #254 for this weekend’s event. This is the same car the team ran at the road course in Sonoma, Calif. earlier this season.
#99-Carl Edwards: The #99 team will bring chassis RK-656 to Watkins Glen this weekend. Edwards raced this chassis at Sonoma in June where he finished 29th. He also ran it at both road course races in 2009.(from team PR’s/sites if reported)(8-5-2010)
