Hornish plans up-in-the-air, could run 1st five races:

  • Roger Penske is still seeking sponsorship for #77-Sam Hornish Jr. for 2011, likely more for a Nationwide Series program than a Sprint Cup program. Penske said he plans to have two Cup teams for #2-Brad Keselowski and #22-Kurt Busch and two Nationwide teams for Keselowski and another driver next season. He doesnt have sponsorship for Hornish in Cup but said because the team has owners points and would be locked in for the first five races of 2011, Hornish might drive at least those events. ‘Sam has done a great job for me on the IndyCar side,’ Penske said. ‘We brought him in here and maybe should have brought him up a different way. But we gave him a chance tonight to run. Weve got a couple of opportunities for him ‘“ nothing at this point for a full season. But there is opportunity out there. Weve got the ability to run in the first five races on the Cup side. So what were trying to do is can we mix and match to get somebody in for us for next year. Weve got to work on it. Wed like to run two cars next year, both on the Cup side and ‘¦ the Nationwide side. We certainly have the equipment and have the people. I think all of us are looking for the right kind of sponsor. These are people that are interested in the sport and what we need to do is try to close some of these deals we are working on. Im positive we can.’(SceneDaily)(11-21-2010)
