Crew chief swap at Gibbs? UPDATE 2 – DENIED:

supposedly a crew chief swap has been discussed and is imminent between the #11 and #20 Joe Gibbs Racing teams. The swap would send #11-Denny Hamlin’s crew chief Mike Ford to #20-Joey Logano with Logano’s crew chief Greg Zippadelli to the #11 garage.
2011 has been a dismal year for Hamlin having scored just one top-10 finish through the first eight-races of the season. Logano is 66-points out of a playoff spot in NASCAR’s Chase for the Sprint Cup. Expect to see the change within the next few weeks if not sooner.(Captain Thunder)(4-27-2011)

UPDATE 2: Joe Gibbs Racing teammates Joey Logano and Denny Hamlin said rumors of a potential Joe Gibbs Racing crew-chief swap for them are not true. Both drivers, speaking Thursday before the Denny Hamlin Foundation Short-Track Showdown at Richmond International Raceway, virtually laughed when asked about the rumors. Hamlin said he talked to team owner Joe Gibbs about the rumors Wednesday. Hamlin has worked with crew chief Mike Ford for his entire Sprint Cup Series career, which started with a handful of races in 2005. “It was news to me,” Hamlin said. “The Coach [Gibbs] called me as soon as he saw it and I was like, ‘Maybe I should be part of this decision.’ “And he was like, ‘There is no decision.’ Mike is my guy. He will always be my guy.” A JGR spokesman also denied that any swap was planned.(SceneDaily)(4-29-2011)
