Lofton, ESR switch to Chevrolet:

Eddie Sharp Racing announced today that they would be making the manufacturer switch from Toyota to Chevrolet this weekend at Chicagoland Speedway with driver Justin Lofton behind the wheel. ESR’s new trucks will be powered by Earnhardt Childress Racing Engines, with additional support from Chevrolet, allowing ESR to produce championship caliber entries within the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series. Owner Sharp says that his prior relationship with Toyota was nothing but positive and that the change to Chevrolet was an opportunity that the team could not pass up. Though this weekend’s event will mark Lofton’s first NASCAR run behind the wheel of a Chevrolet Silverado, he already has a history with the manufacturer. Lofton’s stock car career began in Late Models in a Chevrolet throughout the Southwest. The trend continued as he moved to NASCAR K&N Pro Series West competition, where he raced sporadically from 2005 to 2008, before teaming up with Sharp in ARCA. Lofton’s Class 1500 Buggy, which he continues to run in various off-road events from time to time, is also a Chevrolet. The No. 6 Chevrolet Silverado will hit the track with sponsor CollegeComplete.com.(Lofton Racing/ESR PR)(9-15-2011)
