former NASCAR reporter / writer Neal Sims, 63, of Birmingham passed away August 23, 2013 in Cullman, Al. after a lengthy illness. Mr. Sims graduated from Auburn University with a BA Degree in Journalism and received his Masters of Journalism from University of Missouri. He retired from Birmingham News after 20 plus years of service where he was a recipient of numerous awards for Sports Writing. He loved covering the NASCAR Races.
