Sam Hornish Jr. and the #54 Monster Energy team will return together to the site of their earlier Midwest victory, Iowa Speedway in Newton, for this weekend’s U.S. Cellular race presented by New Holland. The Hornish name will again be over the door of the black Toyota Camry Saturday night with Joe Gibbs Racing (JGR), the fifth of seven races for the Monster Energy athlete. Hornish Jr. will additionally have the wheel of the already four-time winning Toyota, August 6 at the Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course in Lexington and September 20 at Kentucky Speedway in Sparta. The 35-year-old’s NASCAR career consists of 131 starts in the Sprint Cup Series and 104 career starts in the Nationwide Series with three wins, 31 top-five finishes, 56 top-10 finishes and six poles recorded in the NNS. Last year alone, Hornish secured four pole positions, one win (Las Vegas), 16 top-five and 25 top-10 finishes en route to a second-place driver standing at season end, three points shy of a Nationwide Series championship.(JGR)
