Teams in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series will run the same Goodyear tire code on all four tire positions at Sonoma . . . this is the first time teams will be running this code . . . compared to what was run at Sonoma last year, this tire features an increase in tread gage (thickness) for better wear . . . as on all NASCAR road courses, teams will not run inner liners in their tires at Sonoma. This year, the NASCAR rulebook allows that Sprint Cup teams may run in wet conditions . . . Goodyear will bring its wet weather radials for use at Sonoma, should NASCAR decide that conditions warrant . . . teams are allowed up to three sets of “wets” for practice/qualifying and up to three sets for the race . . . this tire code has been run by NASCAR Xfinity Series teams on road courses over the past several seasons (Goodyear), see tire codes, tire pressures, set limits on the Sonoma Race Info page – Goodyear section.
