Empire Racing Group’s Ford F-150 will carry the message of B.R.A.K.E.S. (Be Responsible And Keep Everyone Safe) on track at the Fred’s 250 Presented By Coca-Cola race for NASCAR’s Camping World Truck Series. B.R.A.K.E.S. was founded by Top Fuel racer Doug Herbert after his two sons were killed in a tragic crash. The schools teach teen drivers how to cope with dropping wheels off the edge of a road; managing anti-lock brake systems; emergency lane changes; skid recovery; the dangers of distracted driving and more. The charity has taught over 15,000 students since its founding in 2008 as a 501(c)3 organization. Training takes place at sites all across America, from zMAX Dragway to Pomona, CA’s LA County Fairplex and the NCSHP training center in Raleigh, NC. Scools have even been held in Juneau, Alaska. Instructors are selected from an elite cadre of driving experts, including performance driving instructors, law enforcement instructors and officers, and active and retired amateur and professional racers. Austin Hill drove the #82 truck to second in the day’s second practice session, just three thousandths of a second behind Jennifer Jo Cobb’s session-leading lap. For more information on B.R.A.KE.S. and how to send your teen to the school, see their web site at www.putonthebrakes.org.(B.R.A.K.E.S.)(10-24-2015)
