Cameron Hayley was in the conversation for rookie of the year on the [Camping World Truck Series] circuit, but couldn’t quite keep pace with greenhorn Erik Jones, who won the points championship. Hayley, driving for ThorSport Racing, placed sixth overall. As such, his future in U.S. stock racing is bright, which is rare to say for a Canadian, let alone a guy from Calgary with the ink still drying on his high school diploma. “It was a lot of learning that went on, but we got a bunch of top fives (four), a bunch of top 10s and sat sixth in points by the end of the year, so I think it was a success.” If Hayley keeps climbing the ladder, the clamour is only going to grow. Right now, he and his team are working on securing a ride for next season, be it back in the trucks circuit or even better. “I’d love to do another year of trucks. I think I have a lot more to learn before I move up,” said Hayley, adding he hopes to have something in place before he visits his family in Calgary at Christmas. “But at the same time if the right opportunity presents itself I may move to the NASCAR XFINITY Series. “It all really depends on how the money situation works out and what opportunities arise.”(Calgary Herald)(11-27-2015)
