Dakoda Armstrong will pilot the #28 JGL Racing Toyota Camry in the NASCAR Xfinity Series in 2016. JGL Racing team manager Steven Lane confirmed Armstrong’s appointment. Lane also told Motorsport.com the organization will have support from Toyota Racing Development. The Camrys will be powered with Joe Gibbs Racing engines. Lane will also serve as Armstrong’s crew chief. Armstrong, who finished 12th in the 2015 NXS standings in his second full season piloting the #43 WinField Ford for Richard Petty Motorsports, replaces J.J. Yeley in the #28 Camry. JGL Racing is still in the process of determining the driver lineup for its second team. Although that effort ran under the #26 last season, Lane added the team will return to the #24 Camry. UPDATE: JGL Racing officials announced that Dakoda Armstrong has joined the growing organization and will headline their 2016 drivers lineup. Armstrong will pilot the team’s #28 Toyota in the 2016 NASCAR XFINITY Series season and will be joined by longtime sponsor WinField. The 24-year old Armstrong has 73 NASCAR XFINITY Series starts to his credit to go along with 44 starts in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series. Dakoda competed in all 33 XFINITY Series events last year while earning a 12th-place finish in the series overall drivers’ standings. JGL Racing fielded two full-time NASCAR XFINITY Series last season highlighted by driver J.J. Yeley tying Armstrong for 12th-place in the overall drivers’ standings. The team will continue to field two full-time entries in 2016 with a driver announcement coming soon on the #24 Toyota. The #28 WinField Toyota will once again be led by Steven Lane.
