This is his second Daytona 500 pole (2016-2017) in three races at Daytona International Speedway. #88-Dale Earnhardt Jr. (second) posted his first top-10 start of 2017 and his 23rd in 35 races at Daytona International Speedway. #2-Brad Keselowski (third) posted his third top-10 start at Daytona International Speedway. #13-Ty Dillon (12th) was the fastest qualifying rookie. Alan Gustafson, crew chief for Chase Elliott, posted his third consecutive Daytona 500 pole (Jeff Gordon, 2015; Chase Elliott, 2016-2017) tieing the record Ernie Elliott set in 1985-1987. Chase Elliott becomes the fifth driver in Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series history to win consecutive Daytona 500 poles joining Fireball Roberts, Buddy Baker, Bill Elliott and Ken Schrader.
