After three red flag periods spanning the final 22 laps, including a wreck that eliminated the leaders that gift-wrapped him the lead, #21-Johnny Sauter won the Lucas Oil 150 NASCAR Camping World Truck Series race at Phoenix International Raceway on Friday night. #8-John Hunter Nemechek needed a win to advance to the championship-deciding race at Homestead Miami Speedway, but fell one position short.
#13-Cody Coughlin, #29-Chase Briscoe, #33-Kaz Grala, #52-Stewart Friesen, #51-Todd Gilliland, #4-Christopher Bell, #19-Austin Cindric, and #83-Bayley Currey were the top-10.
Sauter, Bell, #88-Matt Crafton, and Cindric will compete for the championship in the season finale next week. Bell and Crafton locked their positions up early in the race via stage points, while Cindric advanced after #27-Ben Rhodes wrecked out of the event. The two were racing for position 22 laps to go when they made contact and Rhodes went spinning, collecting Crafton.
There were six caution flags for 38 laps, three red flag periods for over 30 minutes, and nine lead changes among three leaders.
