As if racing in NASCAR’s longest event in 90-degree heat weren’t tough enough, NASCAR driver Austin Dillon will be racing at Charlotte Motor Speedway Sunday nursing minor burns he sustained during Saturday’s Xfinity Series race.
“When he hit the wall behind the 23 it knocked the crush panels out and all the heat was coming in,” his grandfather and team owner Richard Childress said. “It burnt him all down the right side of his shoulder off the seat.”
Dillon will race on Sunday. He starts fourth.
