Matt DiBenedetto will return to the NASCAR Xfinity Series (NXS) this weekend driving the No. 18 iK9 Toyota Supra for the CTech Manufacturing 180 at Road American in Elkhart Lake, Wisconsin. In his three previous starts at the 4.008-mile road course, DiBenedetto has a best finish of 11th in 2014. This will be DiBenedetto’s first NXS start since 2016.
Joe Gibbs Racing has 25 total starts Road America in the NASCAR Xfinity Series. The team is looking for their first win at the track, but has earned four top-five finishes and 12 top-10 finishes. The team has led107 laps, completed 1,208 of 1,242 attempted laps (97.3 %) and earned an average start of 8.0 and average finish of 13.8. Michael McDowell earned the team’s only pole starting position in 2011 and also holds the best-career finish for the team when he finished second in 2012.
A full-time driver in the Cup Series this season, DiBenedetto has competed on two road courses, Sonoma Raceway and Watkins Glen International. At Sonoma Raceway he raced his Camry from 19th to fourth and at Watkins Glen International he started from 20th and crossed the finish line in sixth.
For the third road course of the season, iK9 will be on the No. 18 Supra this weekend at Road America with DiBenedetto.
