  • Goodyear tire test at Daytona this week UPDATE: Goodyear Tire Testing with Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series teams will be held at Daytona International Speedway on Tuesday, April 11 and Wednesday, April 12. The test is closed to the public.(4-9-2017)
    UPDATE: Joey Logano, the 2015 DAYTONA 500 champion, was one of five Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series drivers at DIS this week for a Goodyear Tire Test that also featured some aerodynamic exams overseen by NASCAR. Logano, driver of the #22 Shell Pennzoil Ford for Team Penske, was joined by Furniture Row Racing’s Erik Jones; 2008 DAYTONA 500 champion Ryan Newman of Richard Childress Racing; 2013 DAYTONA 500 polesitter Danica Patrick from Stewart-Haas Racing; and Alex Bowman of Hendrick Motorsports.   • Gase to pull double duty at Talladega: Joey Gase is happy to announce that he will be partnering with Sparks Energy for the Sparks Energy 300 on May 6th and the GEICO 500 on May 7th. Gase will be piloting #15 for Premium Motorsports in the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series and #52 for Jimmy Means Racing in the NASCAR XFINITY Series. Sparks Energy and Gase will also be teaming up to promote a very important cause to Gase: organ, eye, and tissue donation.[More](4-12-2017)

  • Date not yet set for Penske appeal UPDATE: NASCAR’s National Motorsports Appeals commission still is working to schedule a hearing for Team Penske, ensuring that crew chief Paul Wolfe will be with Brad Keselowski this weekend. A NASCAR official confirmed Wednesday morning that next week would be the earliest that the team’s appeal of a Phoenix penalty would be heard, meaning the deferment of Wolfe’s suspension would continue at Texas Motor Speedway.(4-7-2017)
    UPDATE: Brad Keselowski crew chief Paul Wolfe will be suspended for the next two races as a three-member NASCAR appeals panel ruled against Team Penske following a hearing Wednesday. Keselowski’s fifth-place car failed postrace inspection March 19 at Phoenix International Raceway as it had a rear steer of more than 0.56 degrees of skew. NASCAR suspended Wolfe for three races, fined him $65,000 and docked Keselowski 35 points. Wolfe sat out one race before Penske decided to appeal the penalty. He is expected to miss the upcoming races at Bristol and Richmond.[More]
  • New NASCAR policy allows for earlier race starts: NASCAR has a new policy where, with 24 hours notice, it could start a race one hour earlier than the listed start time in the event of a forecast of inclement weather.[More](4-11-2017)
  • Multiple tire compounds in 2018? NASCAR is considering doing what a lot of other auto racing series around the world do: Give its race teams the option of running two different types of tires for each race. The first would be a conventional set, the second a softer compound that is significantly faster than the normal tire, but presumably would wear out much quicker.[More](4-12-2017)

  • Richmond International Raceway goes back in time with red stripes on track walls: Richmond International Raceway is bringing back a racing classic. Red stripes will return to the track walls of America’s Premier Short Track.   • Bret Michaels to perform Bojangles’ Southern 500 pre-race concert:Highlighting its award-winning throwback weekend plans of celebrating the 1985-89 era of the sport, Darlington Raceway will have rock legend Bret Michaels perform the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series Bojangles’ Southern 500 pre-race concert on Sunday, Sept. 3.
