  • Burton 200: Jeff Burton, driver of the #99 Exide Batteries Taurus, will be making the 200th start of his NASCAR Winston Cup career this weekend at Richmond(Ford Racing/Campbell and Co)(5-4-2000)
  • #3 Fined: #3 RCR crew chief Kevin Hamlin was fined $2,000 by NASCAR officials Thursday for rules violations discovered in inspection prior to last Sunday’s Cup race at the California Speedway. Hamlin was penalized under Section 12-4-Q in the 2000 NASCAR Winston Cup Series rule book: “Any determination by NASCAR Officials that parts and/or equipment used in the Event do not conform … or have not been approved by NASCAR …” Apparently, for the second straight race, the #3 Chevy’s rear bodywork around the bumper area was not dimensionally correct according to NASCAR’s body templates(SpeedVision and (NOLand That’s Racin’)(5-4-2000)
  • Dodge Team Rumors: There could also be at least two more one-car Dodge teams announced(at Charlotte/Lowes), possibly the Melling team with driver Stacy Compton, and maybe Robby Gordon’s team — both drive Fords at present.
