Max Young Garrison, 90, passed away on October 13, 2020 @ 3:05 am at Brightwater Senior Living Community Center in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. He was originally from Gaston County, North Carolina. He was preceded in death by his parents, Hunter and Margie, loving wife Myra and daughter in law, Stephanie. Max is survived by his immediate loving family that consists of his son Gordie, daughter Linda Foster and son in law Wayne, their two children Hunter and Jesse, and siblings Miller and Faye as well as many cousins, nieces and nephews.
Max loved and adored 50 years serving the Shriner’s Crippled and Burned Children Hospital through the Oasis Temple in Charlotte, NC along with the Jester’s. He was the Captain of the Patrol Unit and was honored to do so. His Shrine family was as his own. He was also a Mason first and continued his love to donate his time, effort and money to help the children in need. Max was a US Veteran and served in the United States Air Force and was in the Korean War as a Surgical Tech. He and Myra were lucky to live in Germany for a few years before returning to the states.
Max had a business in NASCAR doing hospitality and participated in the 1st annual Kyle Petty Race Across America as the hospitality crew and he also assisted in Richard Petty’s last tour of NASCAR. He retired from TRW as a sales representative in 1989, the same year that Myra passed and built G&L Storage in Stanley, NC which was his passion. His other passion was golf! He loved his customers and enjoyed spending time listening to their stories. Max will be loved and missed by all.
