- GMS Racing announced that it will run Cup in 2022. They will run full time with Ty Dillon after buying Richard Petty Motorsports..
- Kaulig Racing has purchase two charters and will run two-full time teams. Justin Haley will run the #31. The #16 team will be split among A.J. Allmendinger, Daniel Hemric and Noah Gragson.
- 23XI Racing will expand to two teams. Kurt Busch will be the driver. They obtained a charter from StarCom Racing.
- Trackhouse Racing has purchased Chip Ganassi Racing and will operate two teams. Suarez and Chastain will drive the cars.
- JR Motorsports considered the possibility of adding a Cup team, but says the cost of a charter is a stumbling block. They are unlikely to enter Cup before 2023, if they decide to do so.
