Tickets for NASCAR’s San Diego base race are “selling like hot cakes,” according to EVP and Chief Venue & Racing Innovations Officer Ben Kennedy, and he expects a sellout soon as the sport makes its return to Southern California. The event on the Naval Base Coronado is slated for June as part of America’s 250th anniversary and will be title sponsored by defense contractor Anduril. Kennedy said he expects about 50,000 people to be permitted per day and for NASCAR to soon hit its max capacity.
In a call this week, he said: “We’re excited about San Diego as well: The 250th anniversary of our country and the Navy, a great opportunity to make a nod to a lot of our NASCAR fans who are veterans, our active-duty military, and a great opportunity for us to celebrate them, say thank you to them but also put on an incredible display of an Americana sport in a unique location.” The race gets NASCAR back in the Southern California market. NASCAR Holdings sold off most of the land at Auto Club Speedway in Fontana, Calif., and hasn’t raced there since 2023. It raced at the L.A. Coliseum from ‘22-’24 with the Clash exhibition but moved the event to North Carolina last year.
