Volunteers sought for NASCAR San Diego weekend

One hundred days from today, the stars of the NASCAR Cup Series will compete in the Anduril Race the Base 250 at Naval Base Coronado. And now people interested in helping make the historic NASCAR San Diego can apply for volunteer for opportunities to assist in the entire NASCAR San Diego Weekend presented by Anduril, June 19-21.

Perspective volunteers should visit sportssandiego.org/2026-nascar-san-diego-volunteers to submit their application. Applications must be submitted no later than April 30, 2026.

“Our passionate fans have embraced this event from day one and the local enthusiasm has been extraordinary,” said NASCAR San Diego President Amy Lupo. “We look forward to working together with a dedicated group of community volunteers to help make this event a success as we celebrate the United States Navy’s 250th anniversary in an event that will unite us all in a celebration of freedom and racing.”

NASCAR San Diego Weekend presented by Anduril begins with Navy Community Day on Friday, June 19, 2026. Friday access will be open exclusively to members of the U.S. Navy at Naval Base Coronado and a limited amount of Coronado residents and then culminate with the NASCAR CRAFTSMAN Truck Series race.

Ticket holders from the general public will be welcome aboard June 20-21, 2026. The NASCAR O’Reilly Auto Parts Series will take center stage on Saturday, June 20, and the stars of the NASCAR Cup Series will compete in the Anduril 250 Race the Base on Sunday, June 21.

Today’s launch of the volunteer application caps a busy week for NASCAR in the San Diego region. On Wednesday, NASCAR Cup Series drivers Christopher Bell, Ty Dillon and Ryan Preece were active spreading cheer throughout the San Diego region on Wednesday. Bell and Preece began the day making bedside visits and delivering Speedy Bears at Rady Children’s Hospital, while also presenting the hospital with a $50,000 check from The NASCAR Foundation.

In the afternoon, they were joined by Dillon, NASCAR driver and US Navy Lt. Commander Jesse Iwuji, and Amazon Prime Video NFL analyst Ryan Fitzpatrick for a Squadron Assignment ceremony inside the Island Club at Naval Base Coronado.

With the Navy Southwest Brass Band playing and sailors enjoying cupcakes “made with love” from Clayton’s Bakery & Bistro, 38 NASCAR Cup Series drivers were randomly paired with Navy commands. The drivers and teams will now work hand-in-hand with the commands on programs that will integrate the commands into race week activities and raise awareness and morale of the sailors defending our nation.
